About the Course
Part 1 is a 2-hour classroom session focused on handgun function, ownership, and care. We will look at
the parts of a handgun and how they work, along with review the different types of ammunition and
their uses. Cleaning and safe storage will be covered, as well as gear and what to expect when you go to
the range. To finish we’ll cover the 7-fundamentals of shooting in preparation for part 2.
Part 2 is a 2-hour session, with the first 30 minutes being a review of the 7-Fundanentals in the
classroom and the rest of the time on the range working on live fire skills. You will need a functioning
firearm, 50 – 100 round of ammunition, eye protection, and ear protection (available for purchase).
Your Instructor
Tammy Bartels - Red Brick Road Training
Tammy is based near Kansas City and is a firearms instructor. She has a BA in Public Relations and Marketing with a Specialization in Project Management and has an extensive background in advocacy and public relations. She has received training from organizations such as The Pew Charitable Trust and The National Parent Teacher Association.
Tammy is a USCCA certified instructor and an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, CCW Instructor, and Range Safety Officer. She is a Missouri POST handgun instructor and certified Byrna Launcher Instructor. Tammy has also received her OC Spray Instructor certification from Agile Training and Consulting.
